What's a TOD File?

TOD as well as MOD are informal video formats used by camcorder brands like JVC (MOD and TOD), Panasonic (MOD only) and Canon (MOD only). However, None of JVC, Canon and Panasonic explained the meaning of the TOD and MOD. Some thinks TOD may stand for "Transport stream on Disk" because they are actually based on MPEG-2 TS container format. TOD is used for recording HD videos with camcorders, while MOD is used for recording SD video files only. Panasonic and Canon have never released a consumer HD camcorder that used TOD video format. Instead, they jointly developed AVCHD.
